THE BASICS

Where does the name Le Bon Garçon come from?

Le Bon Garçon, pronounced luh-BOHN-gar-sohn, means “the good boy”. Founder Justin Chao lived in Paris near Rue des Mauvais Garçons, or “Bad Boys Street” which became the inspiration behind the name of his new caramel endeavor. Realizing he’d never really been a “bad boy”, Chao decided Le Bon Garçon was a much more suitable fit.

Why is your logo a peach?

It's an homage to the ancient Chinese story of Mizi Xia and the bitten peach, where a young courtier offers a peach he has already taken a bite out of to the noble duke he was in love with. Normally, gifting half eaten fruit is considered a bit of a faux pas, but the duke was so taken with courtier that he exclaimed, "How sincere is your love for me! You forgot your appetite and thought only of giving me good things to eat!" The tale and the peach would go on to symbolize love between two men, and the owner found it to be a good representation of his own identity as a gay Chinese American, and the identity of his brand.

Our flavor Bitten Peach is also an homage to this story!

Are your caramels gluten-free?

While we don’t use it in our caramels, we do process wheat in our kitchen and our products are not certified gluten-free.

Does your product contain dairy?

Yes, our caramel recipe includes fresh organic milk, cream, and butter.

Do you use corn syrup?

No, we never use corn syrup in anything.

Are the wrappers biodegradable?

Yes! Our individual caramel wrappers are made from renewable wood pulp and are at-home compostable.

How much advance notice is needed for wedding favor orders?

Three weeks minimum is needed for standard Le Bon Garçon favors and six weeks is required for custom favors. Email help@lebongarcon for pricing and options.

Can I add a gift note to my online order?

Yes! Use the note button located in your cart during check-out to add your message, or email help@lebongarcon.com to add it after checkout.

Do you ship internationally?

For international orders, please email help@lebongarcon.com for a quote.

How do I make changes to my Caramel Subscription?

Email help@lebongarcon.com for vacation holds or billing information changes on your subscription.

Will my gift be delivered to its recipient with the amount I paid?

No, orders arrive with an itemized packing slip only. Price information is not included in our shipments.

I’d like to place a big order, who should I contact?

How long until I receive my order?

Orders are shipped 1–3 business days from the date of purchase and are shipped by UPS Ground from Los Angeles. During our busiest times, please allow up to 5 business days from date of purchase for orders to ship.

Do you ship orders in hot weather?

Yes, we ship in all types of weather, including hot! If it is a particularly hot day, we recommend putting them in the fridge for 2-3 hours immediately upon arrival.

How should I store my caramels?

Our caramels are shelf stable for up to five months, but we recommend storing caramels in an air-tight container inside your refrigerator or freezer if you want to keep them fresh longer.

How much is shipping?

Free shipping applies to US orders delivered to one address and over $40. For all other US deliveries, a $4.95 flat rate applies.

What is your return policy?

In the rare case our caramels don't meet your expectations, email help@lebongarcon.com within 30 days of your order date and a refund will be issued to your account.
